Cooperative Bank of Central Macedonia

Two Macedonian Cooperative Banks, the Cooperative Bank of Serres and the Cooperative Bank of Pieria, having already secured the approval of the Bank of Greece, took the most crucial and cleansing step in their planning with the creation of the Cooperative Bank of Central Macedonia. The merger process had started since 2014.

The two Cooperative Banks (Serres and Pieria) after receiving the approvals of their General Assemblies and their Supervisory Body, the Bank of Greece, proceeded with a merger, with the Serres Cooperative absorbing the Pieria Cooperative. Their common purpose was and is primarily the support of development in the Region of Central Macedonia, of small and medium-sized enterprises and especially of extroverts, the rural economy through contract farming, renewable energy sources and small and medium-sized tourism companies.

Penetration into the banking market of Thessaloniki has been set as the main priority.
